the standard boxes
...and their warranty documents

It's almost impossible to say with swatch model should come with wich type of plastic box.
Too many watches were delivered in several types of boxes.
So I can show you here just the different types of boxes and their warranty documents and a vague declaration when they were produced.

I'm beginning with the logos on the boxes.

  • The first box shows the early logo without the ®. Watches from 1983 and 1984 should always come in this box.

  • The second and third box have the logo with the ® and with the big 'Quarz'.
Produced about between 1985 and 1987.

  • The third box shows the latest type of the logo with the word 'Quarz' written smaller. This boxes were made from about 1987 untill now.

Below there are some examples of older pricetags. The first and the fourth are from older swatches,
while the bipartite ones came not earlier than 1987.

Now I will have a look at the warranty documents.
Like the boxes this documents were used very inconstant during the middle eighties.
So there is not much general valid to say for them.

Here are the first types of the warranty document. Like the watches from 1983 and 1984 this old documents show the word 'Quarz' underneath the swatch logo.
The one with the just white frontside was the first and this type was also used in the blister packs.

A little bit later the frontside became the wellknown silver background with black polka dots. On the backside of this document the year of production can be found in the lower left corner.

Here are the next three types.

  • The first one shows the same frontside as the old document, but on the backside you see that the word 'Quarz' is missing. This type came about 1985 or 1986.

  • The second document has the same design as the first one, but it shows already the imprint of the watch code. About 1986 and 1987.

  • The third one is a rare one that shows already a window for the imprint, but not in white. The window has the same silver background, just the dots are missing. About 1988.

Here are the ones that show up after 1988.

  • The window for the imprint became a white background, so that the stamp can be seen better. There is still the date of production in the lower left corner.

  • The second one shows a variant of the backside with an advertise for the 'Swatch Collectors of Swatch' club. The first documents I saw with this backside are from 1990. (Like the one on the picture)

This is a special additional document that came with the three watches with a scented band (Raspberry, Ice Mint and Banana) from 1985. This document was sealed with the watches in a plastic bag. In six languages the following is written on the document :
This SWATCH band has been scented with a suitable non-toxic fragrance. Because scented objects often appeal to young children, we recommend you keep out of childrens reach. This product is not intended for human consumtion.

  • If you collect chrono-, scuba- and automatic swatches, you should know that the enclosure of the first collection always shows the word new.
So if you are about to buy a 'Signal Flag' for example, be sure that you get the enclosure you see in the right chrono-box on my picture.

This is the old version of the box for the flexband-watches. The last models of flexband-watches that came in this kind of box were the 1989 models 'Metalsphere', 'Steeltech' and 'Coldsteel'. At least I never saw any later models coming with this box.
